New Head Coach, New Season, Different Results? Notre Dame Football 2022

With the sudden departure of Brian Kelly as LSU's new Head Coach, Jack Swarbrick (Notre Dame's Athletic Director) was left with just a few options. Though it was a tough spot to be in Jack has show time and again that he is up to the task. Jack's record of hiring has actually been better than I thought before I did research into the topic.

Jack has hired Brian Kelly who bought the Football team back from the brink. He hired Nicole Ivey who despite a tough start to her coaching career she almost had Notre Dame beating No. 1 seed NC State in the NCAA tournament. Both hires were very successful but his best hire was Link Jarrett Notre Dame's now former baseball coach who just recently left for Florida State his Alma Mater. In three years as Notre Dame's manager he never had a losing season, lost only three ACC baseball series, and brought Notre Dame to their first College World Series appearance in over 20 years.

Jack's success rate with coaches has been amazing so far, but will his most important hire of his career be a success. On December 3 just 4 days after Brian Kelly left for LSU. As a side note this past offseason was probably the craziest in a decade at least. The Marcus Freeman Experience didn't get off to a great start with losses to Oklahoma State and Ohio State.

With the loss to Ohio State already in the books it time to look ahead towards a schedule with some tough games but none are anywhere near Ohio State. With easy games like Marshall, Cal, and UNLV on the schedule at the beginning of the season before some tougher tests like USC and Clemson. I believe completely that Notre Dame will go 11-1, I expected the lost to Ohio State for many reasons but what I saw in that game gave me hope that if we do go 11-1 we could see a playoff berth in Marcus Freeman's first year as Head Coach of the Irish. Clemson has many issues on offense that have yet to be resolved and USC has issues both in the trenches and on the defensive side of the ball. But before both of those matchups you have to beat the Mormons of BYU. This game will be a neutral site game in Vegas and I expect the Irish defense to shutdown the BYU offense. I need to see more from Bucher before I say the offense will run over BYU but I expect the offense to score enough points to win the game.

To close I believe that the Irish and in position to have another 10+ win season and keep the winning ways that Brian "family" Kelly brought to Notre Dame. I am concerned about Tommy Rees in big games because of his lack of second half adjustments and bad play calling against Ohio State. But I put my trust in Freeman to lead this team to the promise land that Kelly could never do. #TheFreemanFactor
