Notre Dame v BYU Recap

Well for starters Notre Dame has a winning record for the first time in the Marcus Freeman era. With his first Top 25 win as well as Notre Dame fans can start to look to a brighter future with two easier games on the horizon with Stanford and UNLV before you have another "Top 25" Syracuse team and a top 5 Clemson team in back-to-back weeks. Now to the glitz and glamour of the Las Vegas road trip.

Notre Dame immediately start off well defensive with a pick on the very first play. After that the Irish struggled to break the endzone only getting a field on the drive. Later on that quarter the Cougars got the lead get a TD. Quickly after that the Irish got their lead back and increased it to a 25-6 lead before BYU off a couple of lucky plays made it a game with the score of 25-20. Eventually the Irish got a field to extend it to an 8 point lead and through the running back talents of Audric Estime the Irish finished off the Cougars in the desert.

This is a game that the Irish desperately needed and a game that Marcus Freeman needed even more. Marcus Freeman even now has a 3-3 overall record as the Irish enter into two very winnable games in Stanford and UNLV before two straight ranked matchups against Syracuse and Clemson. I believe that this Irish team has finally found its footing this season and has finally turned a corner as a coach. Though I didn't agree with the this theory at the time the host of the One Foot Down podcast Joshua Vowles believe that the Marshall game was a trap game and that it was just the biggest of big trap games. Now that Notre Dame has soundly beaten two solid teams in North Carolina and BYU, have been able to improve their offensive line and running game which was a major issue in both the Ohio State and Marshall games. Now it's time to talk about Drew Pyne, I think that he is the second coming of Ian Book and Notre Dame has found its type of QB that they want which is an accurate passer who can run though it is sad that Buncher isn't that QB but I just now hope that CJ Carr will be. Drew Pyne right now has a 72.5% completion percentage with a 9 to 2 TD to INT ratio. I have trust that Pyne can run this offense and run it well just don't think it will be elite.

To end this article I hope to start writing more articles and doing it more often. My goal is to write one article per week so make sure you check back every week for more new articles on Chicago Sports Network.
